Day Trip to Siena

Band, Duomo Siena
I had an excellent time in Siena. I heard fantastic music in Siena. The Siena Duomo was very beautiful. The Piazza del Campo is known for its design. This was an awesome day in Siena.
There were many bands performing all around Siena. We saw 2 bands. We heard many songs, including the Italian national anthem. Another song we also heard was Carmen.
The Siena Duomo is ancient. Starting in the late 1100s, there were plans to build a huge church. This was built in the 1200s. New additions were planned in the 1300s, but the Black Death stopped this, and it was never continued. The inside of the Duomo is impressive with marble carvings of Bible stories on the floor. The library has golden ceilings and old books with all the notes for the church songs.
The Piazza del Campo was a marketplace before it became a square. Its most famous feature is the Fonte Gaia, designed by Jacopo della Quercia. The fountain was paved in 1349 with red brick. 9 lines of travertine were purposefully designed to split the plaza in 10 sections. It is still the center of public life in Siena.
Siena was an amazing place to visit. The music was fabulous. The Siena Duomo was very large. The Piazza del Campo has a great design. I wish I could visit Siena again!
