Palatine Hill and Roman Forum

Palatine Hill & Roman Forum
I had a nice time exploring Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. The history of the Palatine Hill is very interesting. The Roman Forum is very ancient. I saw many things in the area. This was very fun!
The Palatine Hill is the center-most of the 7 Hills of Rome, and is one of the oldest parts of the city. According to legend, it is where Romulus and Remus were raised by the she-wolf. Many important people during the Roman Republic period lived there. Roman emperors starting from Augustus lived on the Palatine Hill too. There are also temples built by emperors on the top of the Palatine Hill.
The Roman Forum was made during Republican times. The Forum was in constant use during that period. However, when the Roman Empire started, the Forum was almost no longer used because a larger and better forum was built right next to it. When Constantine built the Basilica of Maxentius in the Forum, the Forum was used again until the Western Roman Empire fell. It is very hard to believe that the Forum started out as a marshland.
Many things can be seen in and from the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum. I could see the Circus Maximus from the top of the Palatine Hill. The palaces of the Roman emperors are in great condition. Julius Caesar was assassinated and buried in the Forum. There are 3 huge triumphal arches in the forum.
Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum were an excellent place to spend time. There is wonderful history behind the Palatine Hill. The Roman Forum was very important for the first half of the Roman. Many things found in the area are full of facts. I wish there was more time to explore these 2 places.
