Sforza Castle
~ Gordon
Sforza Castle was very nice and huge building with many interesting art. The castle houses many statues, including the last sculpture of Michelangelo, Rondanini Pieta. The castle houses Leonardo da Vinci’s Painting Room as well. But it was under renovation, and we couldn’t get in. Always save something good for the next trip. Leonardo’s Painting Room has many interesting frescoes. He made a sketch of the design for the castle. Later it was repeatedly fortified for World War II.
There was a Michelangelo exhibit containing his last sculpture, Rondanini Pieta. It was incomplete, and he chipped off an arm because he was dying. This 89 year old sculptor finished his beloved last piece 6 days before he die.
The whole castle turns into a museum now. There are many treasures inside of all the exhibits, from jewelry to drawings to maps, and even clothes. It was very interesting to just look at. There were around 6-7 exhibits.
The Sforza Castle is wonderful with a giant castle, Michelangelo’s Rondanini Pieta, and Leonardo da Vinci’s Painting Room. I wish we could come again.
