Cinque Terre

~ Gordon

Map of Cinque Terre
1st village: Riomaggiore
2nd village: Manarola
3rd village: Coniglia
4th village: Vernazza
5th village: Monterosso

Vernazza, Monterosso al Mare, Riomaggiore, Manarola, were the 4 villages we visited for Cinque Terre. From its name you can tell there are 5 villages. All the villages stand on the cliff of Mediterranean sea. There were beaches, trails, castle, basilica, and a lot of other fun stuff. This was a short day. Unfortunately, we skipped 3rd village (Corniglia). I wish that we could go there again.

4th village, Vernazza, was very fun. We climbed a trail to the top of castle, and saw an amazing view of the village and Mediterranean Sea. We sat on the rocks, enjoyed the beautiful ocean view, listened to the bell rung from the bell tower not far away. A trail can take people to the back of the cliff. The kids beach was very fun. The waves are strong and fun to play with. We played at the beach and watched a really good view before going to 5th village.

5th village, Monterosso al Mare, was very good where if you liked beaches. There is clear, blue water that you can swim in. Don’t be tricked, it’s salt water. You may wonder where the water comes from. It’s the Mediterranean sea!

1st village, Riomaggiore was very nice. We didn’t stay here for a very long time, but we still saw some cool things. We saw many people diving, trail d'amore. The trail is famous for going between route 1 and 2. It is closed because of the fear of rock slides.

2nd village, Manarola, was our last stop. We came here to see the famous scenery, the blue sea, the garden, and a church hidden at a trail! It was very interesting to taste all the specialties they have at Cinque Terre such as the food they have, like the fish, the squid, or even the eel! I wish to try them all.

Cinque Terre was really fun. We had a lot of time to play around in beaches, climb trails, look at gardens, see people diving and swimming, and best of all, the scenery. The oceans were very pretty, and I wish we could come back.

Fun time at Cinque Terre
