Leaning Tower of Pisa

I had a fun time in Pisa. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most famous towers in all of Italy. Pisa is an ancient city. Get off the train, we headed to the Leaning Tower. It’s a bit far, about 30 minutes walk. But nice to see the city of Pisa in the early morning.

I had many questions just to start with. Was the legend of Galileo true? Why did the tower tilt? Was it on purposely tilted? That was all still not answered, until now! We had a lot of fun, taking turn of taking photos where we pushed it down, pulled it back up, or just a plain smile. We had a great time.

As of why it tilts, here’s the reason. The tower's tilt began during construction in the 12th century, because the ground was  too soft on one side to balance. The tilt increased until the structure was stabilized by efforts. The height of the tower is 55.86 meters (183.27 feet) from the ground on the low side and 56.67 meters (185.93 feet) on the high side.

Pisa was really fun, and ancient as is. It was nice stop on the way to our next stop, Cinque Terre. The Leaning Tower is full of history and is a big tourist attraction.
