Walking Towards Castel Sant'Angelo from St Peter Square
St Peter Basilica at far
We visited many places over the time of 1 day. We saw Castel Sant’Angelo, with an angel statue on the top. Turn to the left and see Ponte Sant’ Angelo. We went to Piazza del Popolo. There is a nice hill named Pincio Promenade. We sat on Spanish Steps. Finally we saw Trevi Fountain.

Castel Sant’Angelo was famous because it held the ashes of emperors from Hadrian all the way to Caracalla. There is an angel statue of Angel Michael on the top, who ended the plague of 590 AD. The Ponte Sant’ Angelo is right next to the castle, crossing the Tiber River. It has 10 angel, each angel holding different things. 2 men statues stands at the other end of the bridge, St. Peter and St. Paul. Each hold book in their hands.

People Square has an obelisk from Egypt. The emperor Augustus was the taker of the obelisk when it was in Egypt. Then it moved and moved and moved until it reached the current place, the People Square. Did you know that People Square was where people were executed? It was gruesome.

Spanish Steps was a cool place to sit on and admire Fontana della Barcaccia. Behind it is a church, Trinita dei Monti Church. It is a great polished place which you can’t eat or drink on. It is famous for the movie, Roman Holiday, where Princess Ann ate gelato on the steps. It would be nice to have a gelato there. The Fontana della Barcaccia sits at the bottom of the steps. Again, it was designed by Bernini. The fountain looks like a boat with leaking water. People are allowed to wash their face and hands from the fountain. So we did! So cool and refreshing to escape from a hot summer day. The water is not for drinking, of course.

Trevi Fountain is a great place to wish to come back to Rome. Throw a coin with your right hand over the left shoulder. Make a wish! The fountain was built in 1762, with some designs made by Bernini.

Our last stop of the day was Piazza Barberini. The Fontana del Tritone is the highlight of the piazza. Designed by Bernini, the fountain is very majestic with the blowing water out of a clam shell.
There were many fun places to go to today, from Castel Sant’Angelo to Ponte Sant’Angelo, to Piazza del Popolo, to Spanish Steps, to Trevi Fountain and the Fontana del Tritone from Piazza Barberini. I had a great time.
