A big sign of the celebration -
Hong Kong returned to China for 20 years

Hong Kong was fun to visit. There were a lot of bays to hang out, Causeway Bay, Kawloon Bay, Repulse Bay and Shek O and Stanley Bay. Many shops along with some historical cars and trams. The Victoria Peak is huge and had good views of the whole Victoria Harbor. The food was tasty. Golden Bauhinia Square was a celebration that Hong Kong returned to China. From a small fishing village to an important port is a big step. But now, Hong Kong is a world famous financial center.

We landed our flight from Seoul. Our hotel was booked at Tsim Sha Tsui, walking distance to Victoria Harbor. In the morning, the very first thing we chose to do was to start our eating journey. Some of the celebrated food in Hong Kong such as the wife cake, roast duck, dim sum, herbal tea, and abalone cooking. We constantly eat variety of food for a whole morning within a 50-meter distance.  Whether it shows how starve we were, or how tasty the food was? Well, you can tell! One stop was for pan-fried buns in different flavors, one for wanton noodle, and one for waffles. It was nice to have a really big brunch.

With our stomachs full, we walked towards port. There came the famous Victoria Harbor. Many boats rests at the harbor. Look, a traditional Hong Kong fishing boat is leaving the harbor. We were so lucky to see it. Lots of high-rise buildings standing along Victoria Harbor. The weather was sweltering hot, though it was only 25 degrees Celsius.

We rode the Star Ferry to reach another port, Hong Kong Island.  After a bit walking, we arrived at the Peak Tram. The tram is old. How old it is? It has been working for more than 100 years. The tram took us to the top of Victoria Peak. The waiting line for the tram is considered short if you count 30 minutes to get to the ticket booth, then another 20 minutes before you can get on a tram. On the tram, you can still see the things that the olden people used to cut down trees. The Victoria Peak is the most famous landmark in Hong Kong. It is a must see! Here is a tip: At the ticket booth, they will ask if you want to see the 360 degrees view tower. It isn’t really worth it, because there is a free trail that gives you the same view. The trail takes you a round circle around the peak. Walking with lots of plants, and birds around, it is really pretty. A tall glass building looked like a sword with the sun reflection on the harbor.

Golden Bauhinia Square
Golden Bauhinia Square contains a valuable sculpture of golden bauhinia flower. The flower signifies the return of Hong Kong back to China in 1997. Hong Kong was also ruled by Japan for a little while during World War II. The square is right next to a conventional center, which happened to have an Asian Cosmetic Exhibition. The square is always crowded with people.

While enjoying the yummy food, I’d say the beautiful harbor view is the best. Hong Kong houses the most skyscrapers in the world, surrounding Victoria Harbor. The Victoria Peak provides a grand view of the harbor from the mountain top. Riding the Peak Tram is an interesting experience. The Golden Bauhinia Square indicates Hong Kong’s history. I love my trip to Hong Kong.
