Hong Kong was an awesome place. It had lots of wonderful food. The historical tram ride up a mountain was very amazing. The Golden Bauhinia statue and the surrounding area were very shiny despite the dark night. This day in Hong Kong was excellent.

The food in Hong Kong is great. Hong Kong food is mainly influenced by Asian food and also the Western world. This is due to Hong Kong's past as a British colony and long history of being a trade center. Hong Kong has been called Gourmet Paradise, and World’s Fair of Food. I ate Shanghai roasted buns, curry, sirloin with rice, waffles, mixture of beef organs, and more!

At the Peak Trail
The Peak Tram has lots of interesting history. The idea for it started in 1881. 4 years later, the 3-year long construction started. Once it was completed, it was considered a marvel of engineering at the time, even though it used a steam engine to haul a cable. The trams used for the Peak Tram changed 5 times. The current design today can hold 120 people each tram. The tram is also extremely fast. It travels 4475 feet in roughly 5 minutes.

The Golden Bauhinia Square is a memorial for when the British return Hong Kong back to China. The sculpture itself is a 6-meter high gilded bauhinia flower (as its name suggests). The base is made of red granite on a pyramid. A flag-raising ceremony is performed daily at 8:00 AM. On the second day of each Chinese New Year, there is a huge fireworks show.

Hong Kong was excellent. The food is some of the best I’ve eaten. The tram ride includes tons of history behind it. The Golden Bauhinia Square is a place of importance for all of the Hong Kong people. I wish that I could go through this day a few more times!
