Guilin was fun even though we were there for only one day. We visited many places, like Sun Moon Pagodas, the Elephant Trunk Hill.

The Sun Moon Pagodas, built in 2002, are new landmark of Guilin. They quietly sit at Shan Lake (Fir Lake 杉湖) The Sun Pagoda is constructed with bronze. It is 9 stories high and reaches a height of 41 meters. Its twin sister the Moon Pagoda's construction is made of marble. It has 7 floors and measuring 35 meters high. During the night, lights on pagodas make them pretty.

Elephant Trunk Hill is the traditional symbol of Guilin. The hill looks like an elephant drinking water. The round opening under the elephant’s trunk is known as Water-Moon Cave. At night the reflection of the moon can be seen through the arch. Elephant Trunk Hill is very fascinating.

Our hotel is at Two Rivers and Four Lakes. Why it is called that? Its name says the reason. It is where 2 rivers and 4 lakes meets. They link together at Guilin. Li River (the part run through the city) 漓江, Taohua (Peach Blossom) River 桃花江, Mulong Lake 木龙湖, Guihu Lake 桂湖, Ronghu Lake 榕湖 and Shanhu Lake (Fir Lake) 杉湖. The city of Guilin has so much water. Rong Hu (Banyan Lake) has a tree 18.6 meters high, 36 feet in diameter, and is over 800 years old!

Guilin is nice of a place to visit, with the new landmark The Sun Moon Pagodas, and the traditional landmark Elephant Trunk mountain.2 Rivers and 4 lakes was beautiful at night with lights. There was an ancient South Gate at the north bank of Rongu Lake. It was built in 621, around 1400 years old.
