Jiangsu - Lion Forest Garden (Shi Zi Lin) , Suzhou 苏州狮子林

6/14/2014 Suzhou, Lion Forest Garden, (狮子林 Shizi Lin)

Aaron:

entrance
We visited Shizi Lin. It was the home for a famous architect, Bei Yuming. It is a stone maze. We saw a pretty painting about spring coming back near the entrance.

Fu Shou Lu 福寿禄
There were three sculptures of gods on the roof. One represents good luck, another means long life, and the final one is wealthiness.

There were lots of halls and rooms. Shizi Lin was really hard to navigate well. It was a huge maze of steps, tunnels, and some dead ends. We took rests every now and then.

500 stone lion heads

We reached a spot that there was a few tall stones and found out there were around 500 stone lion heads in them!

lily pond
We soon saw that Shizi Lin went around a pond. There were birds, fish, and water bugs near, in, or in the water bug’s case on the water. We also walked around inside a two story tall boat. We went around it twice. Shizi Lin was loads of fun.

In one special room, we found a bronze lion playing with a ball. That led us to a secrete hall. Through the hall, we went back to the maze again.  What an awesome  day!
