 Turtlehead Peninsula, Taihu Lake

     Wuxi was very fun with Taihu Lake and Turtlehead Peninsula. The first stop, a boardwalk, went along a lake near the entrance of the Turtlehead Peninsula park. We wandered along to the ferry going to the Fairy Islands. After a while, all of us went to the city center to eat food. This city has many wonderful places.

Finding animals

     The boardwalk on Taihu Lake had a nice view of it. My brother and I tried finding animals, but the water was so murky both of us didn’t see a thing. The lake has many pretty flowers on both sides of the boardwalk. Unfortunately, we left because it was at the entrance, not the actual attraction. This place was very beautiful.

     Turtlehead Peninsula gets its name from the shape, a sacred turtle with a dragon head (I think it looks like a normal turtle head). It is a very big place, so enormous that I lost my way inside it! This peninsula is surrounded by the huge and scenic Taihu Lake (3rd largest freshwater lake in China). This lake has a large area (2250 sq. km), but the average depth is barely 2 meters (7 feet). We saw a fisherman who had a turtle inside a red bucket on his boat. The nets on the island are fun. They stick up when the net goes underwater. When you drag it down, the net lifts out of the water. My dad, my brother, and I Climbed up a hill and looked at some floors in a pagoda at the top.

     The dinner at the Wuxi town center was delicious and included many things. Part of the meal included chicken breasts, drinks, sliced sausages on a stick, and roasted pieces of chicken on a stick. We also ate wontons and the specialty in Wuxi: Wuxi soup dumplings （无锡灌汤包）.

      Wuxi has many exciting things to do and see. The boardwalk had a beautiful scene. Turtlehead Peninsula has a beautiful view, but we managed to catch it just when the winds were strong and the rain was pouring. The meal in the Wuxi city center was scrumptious.
