Red rocks, Zion
Zion National Park is a very wonderful place. The Narrows is a very cool trail. Camping in this national park is very exciting. The history in this park is very amazing too. This is a very nice national park to visit, even if it’s in the desert.

The Temple of Sinawava trail leads to the Narrows. The Temple Cap sits very high up on the mountain. All of the surrounding area is made red rock. It is actually naturally made. Water carved out the whole temple.

The Narrows is a famous trail going along a river. Majority of the trail is on the Virgin River though, so be sure not to wear things that take a long time to dry. The riverside has some good wildlife and shrubbery. The trail is 5 miles there and 5 miles back. Some parts of the water are very deep, so be sure to roll up any pants that might get wet. The current is powerful in the Narrows too. The Narrows are very fantastic.

Angel's Landing
There are many easy trails lead to the hanging gardens and "weeping" rocks in Zion, Emerald Pool trails, the Grotto, Weeping Rock, and Temple of Sinawava riverside walk. Angel's Landing is a perfect hard trail for the mountain hikers. Angel's Landing's name was given to it when a person said it was so high only angels could land on it. The Zion human history museum shows a very interesting movie inside.

Our Watchman Campsite surrounded by mountains
Zion has many desert plants beside the campsite, including some cacti. I saw a black-chinned hummingbird near our campsite. The heat is nearly unbearable, so it is wise to bring all water with you. At night, the winds are strong and can blow down any tent that isn’t held down by anything. Water faucets are available very close to the campsites, and if you are lucky, there is shade on your campsite. Electricity is available in some of the sites. The camping experience can be very fabulous.

The history of Zion is very interesting. American Indian tribes moved in the area 12,000 years ago. They went away only 800 years ago, most likely due to resource reasons. Mormons settled in the area about 300 years ago to escape religious prosecution. Zion National Park’s name was given to it by a Mormon. Many of the largest and most famous things were named by Mormons too. Soon after, John Wesley Powell visited Zion. Eventually, in 1919, Zion National Park became a national park.

Zion National Park is very awesome. The Narrows are great, especially the parts in the river. The experience when camping is exhilarating. Its history makes Zion very special. This national park in the middle of the desert is awesome!
