The driving from Zion to Antelope canyon was not long, about 1.5 hours. It was about 10:50 AM when we arrived at Antelope Canyon Tours. The canyon was under the Navajo tribe reservation. It can only be accessed by tours. People can't go there without a tour guide. My family and I went with one, Upper Antelope Canyon tour. Only a tour guide van could go in. No backpack or large bags are allowed for the tour. The native people are afraid you will take the rocks with knife or hurt the rocks with backpacks. The canyon is very narrow. But many people in there at once, so you had to be patient and wait for your turn to take pictures. The scene was very pretty on the inside of the canyon.

My parents didn't book the tour ahead of time. Due to July 4th weekend, all the tours were fully booked. We stood by the 11:30 AM tour, which is the best time of day for photographers. We were lucky to get 4 spots and all our family members went together! We got the Upper Antelope Canyon, which was more beautiful and easier to access (no hiking involves). It was very hot in the desert and we figured that the tour buses had extra big wheels. The hot sand may burn the normal car's wheels. Hot sand, and sand dunes were all surrounded me. I realized I am in the middle of the desert. I feel like I am back to Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes in China again. The tour bus drove on the desert for about 20 minutes. When you first enter there, it is very amazing to see those big cracks in the rocks.

The canyon was very impressive and many light shafts. It looks like there is a special kind of light, or dancing figures if you throw sand right into the light.  It can be very amazing.  The rocks are very smooth and have strange wavy outlines carved by rock.

Antelope Canyon was made of Navajo Sandstone, using erosion from flash floods. Rainwater goes into the gap, it rushes into the narrow passageways. There is a story of how Antelope Canyon. A girl was stranded in a desert, and followed some sheep into the canyon, and the canyon was found.
