Grand Canyon is a very wonderful place. It has many interesting parts of its history. The view of the canyon is very pretty from anywhere on the Canyon. There are many trails on the Canyon rim and most lead down to the bottom of the canyon. Grand Canyon is very great.

Human life first started in the Grand Canyon about 10,500 years ago. However, the Colorado River first started carving the Grand Canyon a few million years ago. Since then, the Colorado River has been carving the over 1 mile deep Grand Canyon. In 1869, John Wesley Powell led his famous expedition through Grand Canyon. He was one of the first few non-Native American parties to go through the canyon. It became a popular tourist destination soon afterwards. Grand Canyon National Park was formed in 1919, about 50 years after the expedition. Over 5 million people visit this wondrous canyon annually.

There are many view points in Grand Canyon. Some of them offer a much better view than others. Many offer a great view of the canyon and only a few offer a river view. Of course, it is possible to go along the Colorado River and look up from boats, but the view isn’t as good. The Yavapai Geology Museum offers a great view of much of the canyon. Of course, the view is the best when viewed from hiking a trail.

The many trails on the Grand Canyon lead to popular places or the canyon’s bottom. Along the way, many multicolored stones can be seen. The Bright Angel Trail is the most famous one of all the Grand Canyon trails. We hiked along it only until the Lower Tunnel, but my dad got all the way to the 1 and a half mile building! It leads all the  way to the Phantom Ranch, many miles into the trip. The trip is so long it is suggested to take 4 days to travel on it. The first 2 days to travel downward to Indian Garden or Phantom Ranch, and the last 2 to take the trip upwards. Travelers used to need to pay $1 per person to travel the trail, but access to the trail is now free.

The Grand Canyon is  great place. The history of Grand Canyon is very intriguing. The view of the canyon is extremely beautiful from anywhere along the rim and on any of its trails. The trails are an excellent way to understand how deep the canyon is. I wish my trip to the Grand Canyon had lasted much longer than it did.
