Presentation - Spinosaurus , 2nd Grade Dinosaur Project by Gordon

Spinosaurus

A video of me presenting my Spinosaurus project:
A long time before human appeared on Earth. A ferocious group of reptiles called dinosaurs dominated all the land in the world. Roaming around everywhere on the planet for over 160 million years. Dinosaurs lived in 3 periods which are Triassic,Jurassic, and Cretaceous. The most famous period is the Jurassic because of the hollywood movie called Jurassic Park 1,2,3 and Jurassic World. There was the most variety dinosaurs in the Cretaceous period. Most were sneakier than the T.Rex and the Spinosaurus.
My dino is a Spinosaurus. The Spinosaurus lived in the late Cretaceous (95 - 70 million years ago). Do you think a dino with a crocodile like head and a huge body? The answer is a spinosaurus. The sail running from the back to the tail is an unique thing that the Spinosaurus had. The Spinosaurus was 55 feet in height and 12 tons (24000 lb.) in weight. North Africa is where the Spinosaurus lives in. Its fossils have been found in Egypt, Argentina, Tunisia, Algeria, Kenya, Libya, and Niger. The German person who found and named the Spinosaurus is Ernst Stromer. Ernst Stromer found the first Spinosaurus fossil in Morocco Egypt, in 1912.  The Spinosaurus was a Carnivorous dino; It either ate fish or other dinos. No one knows for sure. It is considered as the first discovered dino that could actually swim! They can also walk on land. It was the very first dino discovered to be like an amphibian even though some people think that their big sail prevented them from swimming. Can you guess how the dinosaur, the Spinosaurus, protected itself? The Spinosaurus protected itself with a scale, sharp teeth, and two very sharp claws.

Here are 4 interesting facts.
  1. Spinosaurus means thorn lizard or spine lizard.  The name Spinosaurus means thorn lizard because of the sail is pointy. The name spine lizard came from the giant spine on the back.
  2. Spinosaurus was a theropod. A theropod is a carnivorous dinosaur of a group whose members are typically bipedal and range from small and delicately built to very large.
  3. The Spinosaurus was bigger than the Giganotosaurus and T. Rex. Those were thought to be the biggest of all dinosaurus until the Spinosaurus was found.
  4. The Spinosaurus could swim and walk on land. It was the first dino discovered to do that. Do you think it was like an amphibian?

The research helped me learn more about the largest carnivorous dino, the Spinosaurus. Dinosaur history is fun to search when you never even knew about your dino.
Dinosaurus have roamed the earth for more than 160 million years, from the early Triassic to the late Cretaceous. Sadly, one day, the dinosaurs became extinct for an unknown reason. People can no longer see any living dinosaurs. Luckily, paleontologists can still find fossils and study them when we can use our imagination to think of how dinos looked like. There are many other animals getting extinct and are already extinct. Dinos are not the only ones. The Black Rhino is already gone. We must stop making animals go no long existing. To help, you can try to get rid of deforestation. Please protect endangered animals so they will not become wiped out. Save the animals, save the earth.
