Stivers Lagoon

Today, we visited Muskrat Creek. It was the first time I rode on an AC Transit Bus! We went on a long nature hike before we entered a lab. The lab had samples of fresh water for us to examine under a microscope. I hadn't visited a place more exciting than that!
The AC Transit Bus wasn't very big, but we could still fit inside. One person let me sit in their spot so I called Harrison over and we shared the seat. We talked about a game we played until we arrived. Harrison told me he was on level 3, which was the one I was on too! The bus ride was awesome.
Our long nature hike introduced me to some new animals and plants or new facts. I never knew that willow trees could release their stuff! English Ivy and Himalayan Blackberry plants were new to me. A new insect to me was called a spittle bug and it could spit out a lot of foam. Never did I find so many unknown species in one spot.
The lab was the best part of the trip. We got a microscope to examine examples of Lake Elizabeth water. I viewed a tadpole and a mosquito larva under the microscope The mosquito larva didn't look disgusting, but when I looked at it through the microscope, it was so gross and hairy. If I had the chance, I would have looked at all the tiny animals under the microscope again.
The trip to Muskrat Creek in Stivers Lagoon was fun. I loved the bus ride. A nature hike told me more about plants and animals. Maybe I could visit the lab again too. It would be excellent if I could do that every day!
